This is an additional language-learning course designed for students with some previous learning of English. The main focus of the course is on language skills and development; for ECG students, we aim to reach B1 on the common European framework of reference for languages, while for EM students, we aim to reach B2. These language skills are developed through the study and use of a range of written and spoken material. Such material will extend from everyday oral exchanges to literary texts, and is related to English language speaking cultures.
The English language is vast, so this functional approach to language involves sorting elements of language into groups which serve purposes, such as asking personal questions, which, in turn, combines the use of question forms, indirect questions and adjectives to describe people.
